Your walk will be interestingly informative and exciting. You don’t have to be a birding enthusiast to enjoy the competition of Chimpanzee calls and bird sounds.

You have an option to go for a special Ugandan meal at Tinka’s homestay or have lunch at one of the lodges in Kibale area (discuss with the guide on the type of preferred type of lunch).

In the afternoon, you have an option to simply relax or go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp for primate and bird viewing. Morning drive Ishasha. The 3.5 hours’ journey is full of wildlife viewing and interaction with the local communities.

The Southern sector of Ishasha sector is still pristine and untouched with only a handful of game vehicles found around the area at any time. This area is known for having large herds of Cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, African bush elephants, Defassa waterbucks, Topis and bushbucks. The pristine Ishasha River hosts one of the largest hippo populations in the world. The ‘super stars’ of the area are the tree-climbing lions that can regularly be seen relaxing on fig tree branches.

The Tree-climbing lions are magical and exceptional. They are only two known tree climbing lion populations in the world – one in Ishasha and the other in Tanzania’s Lake Manyara. Several theories explain the reason why these lions climb trees and one of them is that it is a way of protecting themselves from the biting tsetse flies while others believe the lions climb the tree to escape the stifling heat on the ground and catch a cool breeze. Additionally, another extraordinary feature of Ishasha lions is their black manes.

In the evening, have a game drive ending with a sundowner in the middle of the savannah with the sounds of hyenas in a distance. Enjoy the never-ending views as the sun dips down in the horizon.

This is a non-profit organization that promotes conservation by improving the quality of life of the people living around protected areas. CTPH focuses on human and wildlife coexistence in and around protected area. It’s at Conservation through Public Health that samples from the Gorillas are examined as part of the health observation process to ensure the good health of Gorillas.
