The immigration departments at the Rwanda – Uganda border posts were full of excitement following the reopening of land borders on 7th March 2022.

Borders between the two East African countries have been closed for over 2 years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, only emergency travellers like returning nationals and those transporting merchandise destined or transitioning through Rwanda were being allowed to cross.

The reopening of RwandaUganda border was part of the implementation of a directive by Rwanda’s cabinet issued on Friday March 4, that all land borders linking Rwanda to neighbouring countries would reopen on Monday 7th March 2022.

The border closure had choked off our easy connection between Uganda-Rwanda National parks and other cultural attractions that the two countries share. The tourism fraternity in both countries (Uganda and Rwanda) was excited about the news because of our travellers’ need to adventure through the two destinations by road.

Adventure Consults offers safaris to Uganda and Rwanda with the highlight being primates. Our presence in the two amazing Gorilla destinations, gives travelers opportunities to enjoy cross-border safari experiences with the same guides and luxury safari vehicles.

Good sealed express high ways and roads radiate from Entebbe/Kampala/Kigali outwards to the National parks. The diverse landscapes, homesteads, friendly people, little towns, road side markets and farmlands, make the road drive options very impressive. Exclusive use of our comfortable vehicles makes half-day drives between National parks less hectic.

The official document dated 4th March 2022, issued by Ministry of health, stated that “Land borders are to re-open, effective Monday 07th March, 2022. Travelers may be subject to random Covid-19 testing by the Ministry of Health upon entry and are encouraged to be vaccinated before crossing the border”.
