African painted dogs have been spotted in Uganda’s Kidepo Valley National Park after almost four decades.
Commonly known as wild dogs, a pair was seen around Narus river on 26th June 2023 by Uganda Wildlife field ranger. This is good news for Uganda as the social creatures had gone extinct since early 1980s. Just like zebras, each wild dog has got its own unique coat pattern. Uganda Wildlife Authority has promised to keep track of spotted pair of wild dogs and get vital information for conservation purposes.
Adventure Consult’s Explore Uganda Safari covers Kidepo and five other National parks.
