The 4th edition of International Tourism Film Festival Africa took place in Cape Town, South Africa from 4th to 7th May 2022. At the event, Uganda as the new destination brand left with three Tourism film awards, Yes 3 awards all to Uganda!

The Ceremony that was presented by Denay Willie-a South African Award winning Musician and founder of Rainbow Academy where over 80 awards in Silver, Gold and Grand Prix were provided in three competitive categories-Tourism Africa, DOC&TV as well as Tourism International.

Explore Uganda-The Pearl of Africa film, won a Grand Prix under the “Tourism Africa” category for 2022 as well as two times Gold awards- for “Tourist Destination Country in Africa” and another for Tourist Destination Country Internationally. Uganda Tourism Board, (the Statutory Organization responsible for promoting and popularizing Uganda) premiered this ecstatic film as an appeal to the World to awaken their senses to the raw beauty, mouth-watering foods, warm and friendly people as well as extraordinary things that can only be experienced in this phenomenal country (fondly referred as the “Pearl of Africa”) while highlighting the different attractions that make the destination stand out.

The International Tourism Film Festival Africa is an annual event that merges competition between outstanding Tourism Films and documentaries from all over the world with activities mainly focusing on Tourism Audiovisual Production. It also seeks to appreciate and honor extraordinary as well as innovative Video Content related to the Tourism and Travel Industry.

Other destinations that received international recognitions for their outstanding Audiovisual productions were South Africa, Fiji, Slovenia, Austria, Japan, Portugal, Qatar, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Australia, Philippines, Qatar and Lithuania. “It is a great honor and pleasure to receive these Awards”, excitedly said the Uganda Tourism Board Executive Director- Lilly Ajarova moments after accepting the Award on behalf of the country. The Saving seals of South Africa won a Grand Prix under the DOC&TV section while the “Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza” of Portugal also bagged a Grand Prix in the Tourism International section.

This International Film Festival is one of the Globe’s leading Film Festivals, although the only one in the Continent. It joins the likes of Terres Travel Festival in Tortosa (Spain), the New York Film Festival (USA), the Amorgos Tourism Film Festival in Greece as well as the Cannes Film Festival in France.
