Safari Overview

The Medley of Wonders – Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations. While on this short 3 day/2 nights safari, you will have game drives and boat rides for opportunities to watch game at close range.

Queen Elizabeth boasts of 95 mammal species which include among others prides of lions, schools of Hippos that relax by the Kazinga channel waters, the shy leopards that sometimes hang on giant cactuses, Defassa waterbucks, African bush elephants, bushbucks and Cape buffaloes. The Park is popular for unique birds that can be seen while on game drives and boat rides on the kazinga channel.

 The diverse ecosystems offer breathtaking landscapes ranging from savannahs, clear blue crater lakes, and the far-flung Rwenzori Mountains.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Kasese/Mweya Airstrip, then drive to the Lodge.
Day 2: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park & Boat cruise on the Kazinga channel.
Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe – connect to international flight.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Kasese or Mweya Airstrip, drive to the Lodge.

Meet at your residence or hotel for a briefing on your safari. You will later have a private transfer to Entebbe international airport, arriving in time for check and board a Bush flight to Kasese or Mweya Airstrip.

The flight departs Entebbe at 0700 hours & 1200 hours, Check-in time – is one hour in advance). Flight duration is approximately 2 hours but can be less depending on the routing. Flight schedules are subject to change at short notice.

Baggage restrictions on domestic flights:  Maximum luggage weight is 15 kgs /33lbs in soft-sided bags.  Standard luggage should have the three dimensions of 24 inches (60cm) height, 18 inches (45cm) length, and 13 inches (33cm) width. Any excess luggage can be paid for at 3$ per Kg depending on space availability or can make advance reservation. Alternatively, any extra baggage can be kept at the hotel, to be returned to you at the end of the trip. 

The caravan Bush planes, operated by experienced pilots that sometimes fly at low altitudes thus providing magnificent views of Lake Victoria with lush islands as well as the forested surrounding.

As you fly towards the western side of the country, keep an eye through the window for the incredibly beautiful landscapes dotted with rolling hills, Lakes, Rivers, swamps, and road networks. Before landing at Kasese/Mweya airstrip, expect a grand welcome by the magical snow-capped Mountains of the Moon.

Adventure Consults’ guide will meet you at Kasese/Mweya airstrip, go through registration at the airstrip offices, the after drive to the Lodge (within or around Queen Elizabeth National Park).  The drive time will depend on the airstrip and location of the accommodation facility booked.

Lunch might be at the Lodge (depending on flight schedule).

The afternoon is dedicated to a game drive for possibilities of seeing Lions, Leopards, side-stripped jackals, spotted hyenas, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, African bush elephants, Hippos, Topis, Cape buffaloes, bushbucks, and a variety of big game.

Meals and Overnight accommodation included at the Lodge.
Standard inclusions: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).
Some lodges include drinks with exclusion of premium/imported wines and spirits.
Standard exclusions: All drinks. 

Day 2: Game drive & Boat cruise on the Kazinga channel.

Make sure you are up before so that you don’t miss out the colorful sunrise session!

After a cup of coffee/tea, head out for a game. As the sun peeps out of the broken clouds, it reflects on thesavannahs, creating shady moments. The sparkling sunlight reflection on the lakes and green wetlandsgives the best moment for classic big game and colourful birds to hang out.

Two famous game tracks- Kasenyi track, and Queens’s mile will never disappoint! There are high chances of sighting the Leopard, African bush elephants, Hippos, Lions, Cape buffaloes, and several antelope species.

Enjoy a Picnic Breakfast at a beautiful site by the community craft market, facing Lake Bunyampaka. Depending on the season, you might see the colorful flamingos in a distance.

After lunch, drive to the Mweya pier in time for the 2 pm boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The channel is a 32-kilometer- long natural water stretch that links Lake Edward and George.

The boat cruise on the channel provides the best opportunities for up-close animal viewing and photography with lots of hippos and numerous Nile crocodiles. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s bird life is rich, colorful, and stupendous totaling to 600 recorded species.

We normally book scheduled boats. The type of boat to use (either big or small) is to be determined on the day of the boat trip. Private/exclusive boats are available on payment of supplement.

Weather permitting, go for a sundowner and have a taste of Uganda’s finest gin, and a mix of both local and premium drinks as you look at the sun dipping in the horizon. Note that snacks and soft drinks on house, all alcoholic drinks are on own account.

Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe – connect to international flight.

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip (either Kasese or Mweya) in time for your morning flight to Entebbe Airport.

The drive from the lodge to the airstrip will depend on lodge location, nature of the road and weather at the time of travel. Check in time for the flight is forty five minutes to one hour before the flight.

There are 2 flight schedules every day; Morning departs at 1020 arriving Entebbe at 1125 & afternoon departs at 1200 hours arriving Entebbe at 14145 hours.  Flight schedules are subject to change at short notice.

If you have a connecting international/regional flight today, we recommend a morning flight out of Queen Elizabeth, and booked ro depart Entebbe not earlier than 1345hrs.

On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be assisted through customs and connect to your international/regional flight.

If you have more than 4 hours layover from 11am, Adventure consults offers various options.

  • Complementary transfer to the nearby restaurant (outside the airport) where you will have an early lunch (on own account), then later transfer back to the airport in time for your flight.
