Established in 1898, right on the shores of Lake Victoria, the verdant and extensive botanical gardens sit on over 40 acres of land, stretching up to about 1.5 kilometers along the shoreline of the Lake.

Entebbe botanical gardens are a perfect spot of getting connected to mother nature as you enjoy leisurely strolls, bicycle ride or a relaxed drive in your jeep.

The garden is naturally divided into zones, with the main are being the thick rainforest section, quote popular for forming a backdrop of some of the original Black & White Tarzan films. This section is an excellent bird watching spot with over 115 Bird species on record. The nature and location of the gardens attracts migratory birds with over 32 unique Bird species visiting the site during specific months of the year.

You don’t have to be a birding enthusiast to get in love with the sounds and sights of so many Birds that call this place home!

The colorful Birds that live here include among others the African Jacana, Pink-backed pelicans, Eastern Plantain-eater, Egyptian Goose, African Emerald Cuckoo, Ross Turaco, Yellow-billed ducks, Long-tailed Cormorant, Hamerkop, African Openbill, Pink-backed Pelicans and Purple-banded sunbirds.

The different monkey species roam around the lush Botanical Garden and these include among others, the black and white colobus, red-tailed and vervet monkeys.

Get to walk with the tree squirrels as you are treated with the sights of colorful flowers, butterflies and some of the oldest unique tress in Africa.

The guided walk takes you towards the waterfront of the fresh Lake Victoria, giving a fresh breeze and view of the horizon across the clear waters with eyes stretching to some of the islands.

The botanical gardens can be explored on foot, relaxed drive in your jeep driving through the well paved roads or take a bicycle ride as part of our Entebbe cycling trip.
