The government of Rwanda has implemented a new requirement for visitors effective immediately. Tour operators must obtain emergency evacuation insurance from local provider Akagera Aviation for each traveler.
This insurance includes helicopter rescue and evacuation and is in addition to any private medevac or travel insurance that clients purchase for their journeys.
The subscription fee is US$15 per client in 2017. Next year, the fee is expected to rise to US$20 per client. Adventure Consults will pass this fee on to agents at cost, automatically adding it to all new quotes going forward.
