A few months ago, Uganda Wildlife Authority translocated a tower of Rothschild giraffes and a herd of several Jackson’s hartebeests from Murchison Falls National Park to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The move was part of an ongoing plan to increase the Sanctuary’s biodiversity and provide visitors with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see other wildlife species alongside the renowned Southern white Rhinos that are the “stars of the show” in the Sanctuary.
The translocation of Rothschild’s giraffes and Jackson’s Hartebeests will help boost the Sanctuary’s capacity to support diverse wildlife concentrations and improve visitor experiences.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the perfect stop point for visitors heading to Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley National Park, or even a day excursion from Kampala (3 – 4 hours’ drive).
