Covid Travel protocols – Uganda and Rwanda

RWANDA COVID-19 TRAVEL GUIDELINES – UPDATED JANUARY 2023

As part of Government measures to control the spread of COVID-19, guidelines in form of commonly asked questions and answers. These guidelines are regularly specific travel guidelines and procedures have been put in place for travelers. Arrival

  1. Does one need to have covid-19 vaccination certificate to enter Rwanda?
    No, vaccination certificate is not a requirement to enter Rwanda.
  2. Is the Passenger Locator Form still a requirement prior travel to Rwanda?
    No, the Passenger Locator Form is no longer required.
  3. Does one need to carry out any covid tests prior travelling to Rwanda?
    No tests are required prior travelling to Rwanda.
  4. Are there Health screening measures at entry or exit points in Rwanda?
    Yes, all travelers entering/exiting Rwanda are required to undergo temperature checks.
  5. Is there any additional Covid test required upon arrival in Rwanda?
    No tests are required prior travelling to Rwanda.

Covid-19 guidelines before visiting National parks.

  1. Is there need for COVID-19 test before visiting Primates in Rwanda?
    It’s a requirement to present Negative PCR test results taken within 72 hours before visiting primates (Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Golden Monkeys etc) in Volcanoes, Nyungwe, and Gishwati-Mukura National Parks.Covid-19 testing facilities are available for all travelers whose final travel destination necessitates having one. Tests cost USD 50 for PCR tests or USD 5 for rapid antigen tests.
  2. Is there need for COVID-19 test before visiting other National parks and sites?
    No need for covid test results when visiting other National Parks/sites. The test is only required when visiting primate National Parks as stated in 1 above.

Departure

  1. Does one need to have covid-19 vaccination certificate before departing Rwanda?
    No, vaccination certificate is not a requirement to exit Rwanda. However, it might be a requirement for your next destination before entry, so please endeavor to check.
  2. Does one need to carry out any covid tests prior departing Rwanda?
    No tests are required prior exiting Rwanda. However, some countries require tests before entry, so depending on your next destination, you might be required to carry out tests.
  3. Is the Passenger Locator Form still a requirement prior departing Rwanda?
    No, the Passenger Locator Form is no longer a requirement.
  4. Are there Health screening measures at the exit points in Rwanda?
    Yes, all travelers entering/exiting Rwanda are required to undergo temperature checks.

Reminder.
