Entebbe is home to the country’s only international airport (Entebbe International Airport) – as of April 2024, hence the main gateway to the Pearl of Africa.

Surrounded by the gorgeous clean waters of Lake Voctoria, the green vegetation, the botanical gardens and one of the oldest Golf courses in Africa (established in 1900), makes Entebbe such a special place to live, work or take a walk!

It is said that, Entebbe area (before it got the name), was one of the places where the Buganda Kingdom chief used to sit and adjudicate legal cases. It’s from this background that the place got the name ‘Entebbe’, a Bantu ethnic word meaning a seat or chair.

The vibrant green town that once served as Uganda’s administrative capital, appears in the world’s history books due to the 1976 Ride on Entebbe. Our guide will tell you the story when the soldiers from an elite unit of the Israeli army freed over 100 hostages following a hijacking by a group of Palestinian and German militia.

A tour of Entebbe requires more than just a day, but in an event that you don’t have much time, but have got a few hours before your flight, or have a full day before or after your main Uganda Safari, or after a conference, Adventure Consults offers a number of both relaxed and adventurous activities to ensure that you see more of Uganda.

Entebbe has got amazing history, places of great importance among others, official home and headquarters of the country’s president (originally the governors’ mansion during colonial days), Ngamba Island (home to the chimpanzees), the evergreen Botanical Gardens, luxury resorts, sand beaches and Uganda wildlife Conservation Education center.

Entebbe being the official residence of the president and also the presence of the main international airport, makes it one of the safest cities on earth. You will enjoy your walks, drives, boat rides, fishing excursions or roadside Uganda’s specialty snack – the Rolex) with peace of mind!
